Music
TAUGHT BY BETO TRECANAO AND SHAWNEE HUNT
Music profoundly impacts individuals, serving as a universal language that connects people across cultures and ages. For children, engaging with music, especially through learning instruments like the piano and the drums, can significantly enhance cognitive development, improve language skills, and foster social interaction. In Brazil, music education is integral to cultural identity and community, with many children learning traditional instruments such as the berimbau and guitar, alongside classical instruments like the piano. We use this multicultural approach to music education to nurture creativity and discipline while strengthening community bonds. Moreover, music has been shown to decrease stress and anxiety, acting as a therapeutic tool that promotes emotional well-being. We use music as both a therapeutic approach and to teach our students a skill that will last them a lifetime.
